Store Update 03/12/2021: Have you had a chance to drive past the new grocery store? The progress will amaze you! The building has been completed, along with the concrete floors which have been polished and look amazing.  The insulation is done along with framing of the bathrooms, bakery, off-sale, office, and stairs leading up to the loft.

Up next is the electrical, plumbing, installation of the coolers and freezers and also installing the cooler for the off-sale area.  We will also see completion of the bathrooms, baker, off-sale, office and the loft.

We put a call out for volunteers to help with the construction process inside the store and we so tremendous results.  This community and the surrounding area is a testament to what can happen when we all pull together.

In the weeks ahead will anticipate the sinks, shelving, security and phone system to be installed along with the point of sale system, baker equipment, and the sidewalk.

We've also got another project we need your help with and that's NAMING OUR NEW STORE!

Submit your suggestion to our email! lidgerwooddevelopmentcorp@gmail.com

The person whose suggestion is chosen by the LPDC board will receive a $50 gift card to the new store.  In the event of duplicate suggestions we will do a random drawing. The deadline is March 18, 2021.  Don't delay!

STORE UPDATE 11/29/2020: We've seen some great progress these past weeks.  The plumbing and electrical under the concrete has been completed.  The concrete work is on schedule for completion December 1-2 both inside and the outside entrances.  After the pour there is a required 28 day drying and curing period before it ca be polished.  This is necessary for the amount of heavy traffic with equipment and inventory for the store.  This means ABSOLUTELY NO HUMAN OR PET TRAFFIC during those 28 days.  Any damage during this period of time cannot be repaired and will result in permanent damage.  Moving forward it will be into 2021 before any notable progress will take place.  January and February will be a very busy time for the project with electrical, plumbing, carpenters and Foltz finishing up on their part of the project. In closing, I've been told along with other board members that "nobody called on me".  If anyone has experienced this PLEASE call one of us on the board.  The present COVID situation has really hurt our efforts.  We still need to continue our fundraising efforts to get our store completed.

SO CLOSE TO OUR GOAL: Lidgerwood Progressive Development Corporation (LPDC) is excited to announce we have taken the first step to build a grocery store. The LPDC fundraising committee has reached the ONE MILLION dollar mark! Thanks to many generous individuals and the City of Lidgerwood by way of a portion of the 1% city sales tax, enough funds have been donated or pledged to allow us to order and pay for a building from Foltz Buildings, Inc. that will house the future grocery store in Lidgerwood.  Construction is set to begin in October of this year.

We are SO CLOSE to reaching our goal to make this store a reality.  Since total funds donated and pledged are still short of the final project costs, LPDC will continue to ask for donations from area residents. All of the interior work, i.e. shelving, coolers, freezers etc., still need to be paid for.  If you are waiting to donate or have not been contacted, please consider donating now.  This was an enormous undertaking and would not be possible without you.

It has been almost two years that the community of Lidgerwood has been without a grocery store.  November 28, 2018 is when the Lidgerwood Market caught fire and was a total loss due to smoke and fire damage. Our committee began the process of raising money to build a new store and our amazing community responded. The LPDC would like to thank everyone who has supported the project to date.

Thank you.

LPDC Board of Directors

ELECTION RESULTS: The 1% Sales Tax has been approved. The City Council will determine how this 1% tax will be distributed to community projects, which includes the grocery store.

MOVE THAT THERMOMETER! We are close to moving the donation thermometer to $700,000.00. We are very appreciative of all the community support but we need to keep it moving towards our goal in order to order the building for late September or early October. With your support we can make this a reality!

BUILD IT AND THEY WILL COME: We would love to break ground and get this much needed project started but without your pledges we can not, in good conscience, start building without knowing we will have the funds to put the equipment into the building.
